Walker's Filly Looks Overpriced At Lingfield

It wasn’t a bad end to the Punchestown festival for us on Saturday, and at least we managed to find a big priced winner in Whatareudoingtome. He was given a brilliant patient ride by Slippers Madden and he delivered him at the perfect moment. Automated, on the other hand, was left with far too much to do by Bryan Cooper and he should have finished a lot closer than 5th. 3 miles should be ideal for him in the future.

Ed Walker's dose of seconditis ended on Wednesday.

This Thursday I like the look of one at Lingfield, and I think Sayem is too big a price in the 7f handicap at 16.10. Ed Walker and Thomas Brown had been hitting the crossbar repeatedly in the last week or two, but finally they got a win on the board with Reckless Wave who dead heated at Wolverhampton. Walker has his string in tremendous form, and Sayem showed she relished this course and distance with an impressive maiden win here back in December.

She broke well from stall 3 and she was always travelling comfortably behind the leaders. She was going best of all as they turned for home, and once Thomas Brown got her organised she showed a smart turn of foot to put the race to bed inside the final furlong. The form of that race has worked out pretty well, with the second and third both going on to win maidens since.

Sayem has been handed a mark of 77 for her handicap debut and this 3yo daughter of Sayif should be capable of making an impact off that rating. She has been handed the plum draw in stall 1 and she should be able to get a good position early. She is up against the boys this time and it looks a competitive race, but she is well drawn, unexposed and her yard is in flying form. Sayem can be backed at odds of 16/1, and at that price she has to be worth a small bet each way.
