Teaser Looks A Tasty Bet At Goodwood

It is Guineas weekend at Newmarket and I think Eminent is a massive price at odds of 15/2 with Paddy Power. I have already put him up for Mybettingbonus.co.uk and I can’t see him finishing outside the first three. At even bigger odds I like the look of one in the 10f handicap at 17.00 at Goodwood, and I think Malt Teaser could take a big step forward now tackling turf and stepping up in trip to 10f for the first time.
John Best knows how to land a touch.
This horse has already shown a glimmer of ability for John Best in five all weather runs, and his best effort came on handicap debut at Lingfield (7f) off a mark of 65. He was outpaced down the back but he really found his stride when they turned for home and he stayed on strongly for 5th, beaten just 2L. He was never put in the race last time after being given far too much to do, and he is entitled to strip fitter for that run as it came after he had over two months off.

Malt Teaser is by Muhtahir, the sire of top class 12f performer Dr Dino and Prix Du Cadran winner Mille Et Mille. Muhtahir’s progeny seem to be at their best on turf, so Malt Teaser could improve for the switch to good to firm ground at Goodwood. His dam is out of a half sister to a 12f winner, so there is plenty of hope that the step up to 10f could suit him too.

Kieran Fox, on board for all of Malt Teaser’s runs so far has been jocked off for Martin Dwyer, and he has a respectable record when riding for John Best. In the last 5 seasons Dwyer has ridden for Best on 45 occasions, winning 4 and placing on 11. Best has his string in good shape too, sending out 2 winners and a runner up from his last 11 runners.

Malt Teaser has been handed the plum draw in stall 1, and at Goodwood the draw is crucial. Hopefully he races closer to the pace this time and if the ground and extra distance bring about the improvement that I anticipate, Malt Teaser can go very close at odds of 20/1 with Paddy Power.
